Basic Information

Luo Xiaoqing, Ph.D., Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor at Jiangnan University.

She was selected for the Jiangsu Province “Six Talent Peaks” Talent Program. She received her Ph.D. in Engineering in December 2010. From August 2015 to August 2016, she was a visiting scholar at the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP) in the Department of Electronic Engineering at the University of Surrey, UK. Her collaborative supervisor was Professor Josef Kittler, a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and former President of the International Association for Pattern Recognition (IAPR).


Research Interests

Multimodal Fusion, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition theory, methodologies, and applications.

Main Achievements: Her research focuses on multimodal fusion, computer vision, and pattern recognition. She has published over 60 academic papers in important domestic and international academic journals and conferences, including IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Pattern Recognition, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, IEEE Sensors Journal, Acta Electronica Sinica, Control and Decision, and others in the fields of pattern recognition and image processing. Among these, more than 35 papers are indexed by the Science Citation Index (SCI). She has been granted 13 invention patents and over 20 software copyrights. She has led a sub-project of the Key Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Joint Fund, a General Program of the NSFC, a Youth Program of the NSFC, a General Program of the Jiangsu Provincial Natural Science Foundation, a National Postdoctoral Science Foundation project, a Jiangsu Provincial Postdoctoral Science Foundation project, a Joint Fund project for Pre-research of Equipment by the Ministry of Education, and a Central Military Commission Innovation project. She has also participated in and completed multiple national defense pre-research and equipment projects, as well as enterprise-commissioned projects.


She was selected as a high-level talent in Jiangsu Province's "Six Talent Peaks" program. She has successively won the First Prize of the Higher Education Scientific Research Outstanding Achievement Award (Science and Technology) for Scientific and Technological Progress, the Third Prize of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Award, the Jiangsu Provincial System Engineering Youth Science and Technology Award, the China General Chamber of Commerce Science and Technology Award, the Third Prize of the Zhenjiang Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award, the Excellent Paper Award at the 6th China Information Fusion Conference, the Excellent Paper Award at the Jiangsu Provincial Artificial Intelligence Academic Conference, the First Prize for Excellent Paper at the Jiangsu Provincial System Engineering Academic Conference, the Second Prize for Excellent Natural Science Paper in Wuxi City, and the First Prize for the Plenary Report at the Jiangnan University Medical Academic Annual Conference. As a supervisor, she has guided students to win the National Third Prize in the Blue Bridge Cup National Software and Information Technology Talent Competition, the International Student Award in the China University Service Outsourcing Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and the Bronze Award in the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC), among others. She has received the Jiangsu Provincial Excellent Graduate Teaching Case Award and the University-level Teaching Achievement Award. She has led the construction of the ideological and political demonstration courses for the undergraduate course Operating Systems and the graduate course Principles and Applications of Computer Vision, and led the construction of the teaching case library for Principles and Applications of Computer Vision. She has been awarded the Huawei Teaching Fund and titles such as "Pillar of the Nation" by the Ministry of Education-Huawei Intelligent Base and "Excellent Graduation Design (Thesis) Supervisor" by the university.


She is a core member of the Ministry of Science and Technology China-UK Joint AI Laboratory, the Joint Fund Innovation Team for Equipment Pre-research by the Ministry of Education, the Jiangsu Provincial University Excellent Innovation Team "Pattern Recognition and Computational Intelligence Team," the Jiangsu Provincial Engineering Laboratory for Pattern Recognition and Computational Intelligence, and the Josef Kittler Artificial Intelligence Research Institute. She serves as a Director of the Jiangsu System Engineering Society, a member of the Youth Working Committee of the Jiangsu System Engineering Society, a member of the Pattern Recognition Professional Committee of the Jiangsu Artificial Intelligence Society, and a member of the Graphics and Virtual Reality Professional Committee of the Jiangsu Computer Society.
